R. O. M.

Italian painter Eugenio Zampighi lived in the second half of the 19th and the first half of the 20th centuries. His artistic style was Genre, which means that he painted people in the process of their daily activities. Happy families in idyllic settings was the main object of his art.

Zampighi families are multi-generational and old people are present in nearly all of his works. He undoubtedly enjoyed painting the old, studied his subjects and knew them well. In his paintings, as in real life, one can see old people having characteristically different features and body postures.

So what is it that makes old people postures and body movements different from the young? The answer is in the acronym R.O.M. which stands for the Range Of Motion. As we age, our joint capsules get restricted, tissues around them swell, our tendons and ligaments lose flexibility and our muscles lose strength, shorten and atrophy.

Working out at the gym undoubtedly helps to slow down these natural processes, especially when supplemented by regular massages. We at Breathe Spa will step in where your gym training often falls short - joint mobilization, scar tissue reduction, myofascial release and removal of metabolic fluid. All of these help your mobility, and movement is life.

At Breathe Spa our treatments are much more than relaxing body rubs. By increasing your mobility we help slow down your aging process and make you feel younger. Come and have a massage with us - you'll be glad you did. Go online to www.breathespa.ca or call us at 403-457-3060 and make an appointment.
